Freda Women: Angelyne Tompkins
We discovered Angelyne on Instagram when we saw an image that she posted of herself in our KEEN nude woven. We immediately reached out to her to see if she would be willing to be in our Spring Campaign. We loved getting to know Angelyne on our shoot day in Petaluma. Her talents and passions have no boundaries.
Briefly describe your personal style
I dress for my mood. I love being able to switch things up but have some signature pieces in my wardrobe that make me stand out from the crowd...pieces that have a story.
What has been the most monumental moment in your life?
My father passing away is the most monumental moment in my life. I’ll never forget that day but it has taught me about acceptance and patience. His passing has also taught me to always cherish the ones you love. Those are virtues I hope to never forget; he is always in my heart.
Where do you find inspiration and how do you stay inspired?
Inspiration is something that has always been a bit hard for me to pin point in words. What I have always found inspiration in is in nature. Mother Earth is so gracious and loving and I feel like a complete squirrel in her world.
Words to live by?
Be humble, be grateful...understand your neighbor.
What advice would you give your younger self?
We are on our own journey and we only have one life to live so....the small stuff? Don’t sweat it.
What are you reading right now?
Zadie Smith is one of my favorite authors but her book White Teeth is important.
What are you listening to?
I was a dancer as a child so music is a big part of my life. My playlist consists of many genres and less artist specific. However some of my favorites at the moment are: The Internet, Thundercat, and Solange...throw some Miles Davis in there and I’m a happy camper.
What are you most proud of?
I’m proud of being a young woman in the wine industry but more so than that, a young black woman in the wine industry.
