FREDA WOMAN SERIES: JENNY AND LILY MONBOUQUETTE

Meet Lily + Jenny from Monboquette Jewlery!

We partnered with LA based, mother-daughter brand Monbouquette to dream up a special vase pendant necklace for the holiday. What better reason to throw a party together in our Larchmont store?

In the afterglow of festivities, we caught up with Jenny and Lily to chat jewelry, business, and the inspiration behind one of LA's coolest jewelry brands. They're incredible—meet this month's FRĒDA Women.

Tell us a little big about you.

Monbouquette is a female-founded jewelry brand inspired by art and defined by clever, playful design. Our pieces feel both classic and unexpected, often with hidden functional details that invite a little moment of surprise. We design everything in our Santa Monica studio and produce with local partners in Los Angeles, focusing on thoughtful craftsmanship and ethically sourced materials. Our goal is simple: to create original pieces that spark curiosity and joy.

We love that you’re a mother-daughter business, what was the inspiration behind the brand? Talk to us about starting a business together.

Jenny: It began when I took a jewelry-making class and suddenly couldn’t stop sketching. I shared everything with Lily, and we quickly realized we were drawn to designs that moved, transformed, or held a playful surprise.

Lily: We’ve always been extremely close with a natural creative rhythm, so starting a brand together felt inevitable. We collaborate intuitively and build on each other’s instincts, which makes the process super fun and very personal.

Jenny: Once we figured out how to incorporate functional mechanisms into jewelry, we knew we had something unique. We launched in 2019 and later received a patent for our convertible designs. Our relationship shapes every part of the brand, which is why it feels so connected to who we are.

Your designs are so clever! what is the design process like? Do you always look to include some special, delightful element?

Always. That’s a core part of our identity.

We find inspiration in everyday objects — sailing cleats, books, hardware, even pita wedges — and love transforming the familiar into something sculptural and surprising. Many of our pieces shift, open, or change in small ways because we’re drawn to jewelry that feels interactive. We like designs that evolve from day to night and reveal something new when touched. The goal is always to spark a sense of curiosity and delight.

We love the vase pendant necklace you designed for FRĒDA. Tell us a little more about the collaboration.

The idea started when Meg, FRĒDA’s co-founder, wandered into one of our trunk shows in Northern California. We connected instantly over design and craftsmanship, and she fell in love with our Vase Brooch. That moment inspired the idea of creating a pendant version together.

We imagined a small sculptural vessel that the wearer could personalize with dried flowers or a meaningful little sprig. The video of slipping blooms into the pendant captures exactly what we hoped for: something tactile, expressive, and ever-changing. It was a natural, intuitive collaboration built on a shared love of thoughtful details.

What do you think about accessories and shoes when it comes to personal style?

For us, accessories are the finishing touch. They complete a look and bring personality forward. You can wear the simplest outfit, and a beautiful bag, great shoes, or special jewelry can elevate everything instantly. These are the pieces worth investing in because they carry the rest of your wardrobe and express your taste in the most authentic way.

What's on your wishlist from FRĒDA?

Lily: love a kitten heel boot!!! The brown color is edible and the stud hardware is the kicker for me.

Jenny: JACKIE Sneaker Limited Edition With The Leopard Print

Lily, tell us something about your mom that inspires you. Jenny, tell us something about your daughter that inspires you.

Lily: My mom’s curiosity is endless. She approaches ideas with so much excitement and openness, and watching her reinvent herself creatively has inspired me more than anything.

Jenny: Lily has incredible instincts. She understands design and storytelling in such a natural way, and she brings joy and clarity to everything we create together.
