THE BEST (CURATED BY US) February 2024
THE BEST OF ALL THINGS STYLE
We’re all about style this month because we know getting dressed makes you feel good—and that’s a fact. We’re taking the time to reflect on our personal style and what about it makes us happy in our everyday. From the psychology of style to discovering your own taste, here is our curated list of the best in style this month.
THE BEST SHOPPING
Bags that swing. Jewelry that turns heads. Prints that make us smile. That’s what’s on our shopping list this month.
When we’re in a minimalist mood, we love to add fun jewelry to add extra personality to our looks. Only Made is an New York-based brand that thrives on creativity. They prioritize beautiful and thoughtful design that works with every wardrobe. It’s a personal favorite of our co-founder Megan’s!
Bags are often our favorite accessory, and we love when they leave an impression. Nasrin Jean-Baptiste founded Petit Kouraj with a dream to create a collection of bags full of unique personality; both lively and chic while being an ode to her Haitian lineage. We are obsessed and need one in every color—that is all.
SEARCHING FOR: STELLA JEAN ANYTHING
The magic is in the mix—or multicultural contrast in Stella Jean’s case. Born to an Italian father and Haitian mother, both cultures are present in all of her pieces. She built her brand on a joyous appreciation of prints, colorful palettes and authentic partnerships that highlight her social work as a designer. We love everything she does and are scouring the Outnet and RealReal to find the perfect piece to add to our closets.
THE BEST READS
Creating a character’s wardrobe. The only things you should buy. Fashion psychology. That’s what’s on our reading list this month.
We have yet to see “Poor Things,” but we have seen Emma Stone’s costumes and we can’t get over them. AnOther Magazine (a fashion favorite if you’re looking for a new read) dives deep into the storytelling costume designer Holly Waddington does in this year’s Oscar-nominated film.
We’ve been a big fan of Becky Malinsky and her style for years, but we only recently subscribed to her substack, “5 Things You Should Buy.” Arriving weekly, she shares her take on what’s worth buying now and why. We like to think of it as a way to think thoughtfully about trend shopping.
As avid fashion enthusiasts, we’ve done so much research on the psychology on fashion. In “Big Dress Energy,” Shakaila Forbes-Bell explores how our wardrobe acts as an extension of our identity and offers practical advice on how we can harness the principles of fashion psychology to upgrade our look–and dress authentically. We’re halfway through and can’t put it down at night.
THE BEST ENTERTAINMENT
Supermodels (you know the ones). Discovering your taste. Fresh and fun follows. Here’s how we’re entertaining ourselves this month.
We might be a smidge late to watching this, but all the same, we loved it! The glam, the clothes, the photography—everything was a feast for the eyes. Spotlighting the remarkable careers of Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington, it’s a look into their most iconic moments in the 80s and beyond.
LISTEN: DISCOVERING YOUR TASTE
Megan (our co-founder) recommended this to me, and I’ve listened to it twice on my morning coffee walks. Ezra Klein looks at how the internet algorithm is leaving little to surprise anymore. Yes, you effortlessly have your preferences available, but what about when you want to be WOWED? It’s a larger discussion on what we can do to strengthen our sense of personal taste to live a richer. more beautiful life. Highly recommend.
As much as we don’t love to admit it: we’re Instagram scrollers. We find so much style inspiration here we can’t seem to walk away. Recently we’ve been OBSESSING over the Portugal girlies and their unapologetically fun style. Color, print, weird shapes, unexpected accessories—you name it, these girls will wear it and make you smile. Here’s a few of our favorites:
