The essential mary jane loafer. Handcrafted in a powder white pebbled calf, the HELEN updates the classic style with cool hardware and our iconic notched leather welt. Good with or without socks, we love this style with a denim on denim look or everyday tailoring.

Our shoes are made from the highest quality leather which will last season after season. Leather is a natural material and will give with wear.

  • 100% Italian leather in powder white pebbled calf. This tannery is rated Leather Working Group Gold. Leather Working Group is a tool to evaluate the environmental performance of leather goods manufacturers.
  • 100% Spanish leather lined. This tannery is a Leather Working Group Approved Trader and leather contains no PFAs.
  • 1.5" leather stacked heel
  • Polished leather sole with rubber spay for enhanced durability 
  • Leather welt with contrast stitching details
  • Custom buckle for adjustability

This leather may feel stiff when you first put them on. This is normal as they will need a little breaking in to make them yours. Before you know it, the leather will take the shape of your foot and become your everyday favorite. We suggest wearing them with socks around the house until they soften.

  • We recommend half sizing down.

The HELEN is handmade at our family-owned factory in the traditional footwear town of Elda, Spain. Our leather is sourced from the finest tanneries across Italy. Each upper is cut, sewn and lasted by Spanish artisans who are experts in their craft.

    First Freda shoes!

    I tried these on in store and had to get them since they were on sale. Agree with the reviewer who said they scuff easily - totally true - but you can rub the scuffs out if you catch them early. Will see how these wear in, but the write Mary Jane is a look I haven’t been drawn to until these… and I’m excited to wear them with cute black sheer socks! Sized a 9.5 even though I’m usually a 10.

    beautiful but scuff too easily

    I coveted these shoes for many many many months and was so excited when they finally went on sale. I followed the recommended sizing as described in the product description. The shoes are so beautiful and very well made. However, they scuff too easily!

    After breaking them in, just around the house, the shoes were completely covered in black marks from where the sole of the shoe brushed against the upper, white, part of the shoe on the opposite foot. By the time they were broken in and I finally wore them out of my house, they looked like a pair of shoes I have had for a couple years that are very dirty looking. Unless, you have a perfect stride and your feet never knock into each other while you are walking, I recommend getting these in black not white.
