THE BEST (CURATED BY US)
THE BEST DAYS AHEAD
The new year always brings moments to reflect and a desire to push forward. From finding time to read a page every morning to wearing poetry as jewelry, here is our curated list of how we’re creating the best days ahead this month (and year!).
THE BEST SHOPPING
We love to get up every morning and set our vibe for the day–here are a few ways we’re expressing ourselves this year.
REFRESH YOUR ROUTINE
Skincare is always a habit to help “hit refresh” and bookend your day. Founded by April Gargiulo, Vintner’s Daughter uses both ancient and modern techniques to create what they call, “Nutritional Skincare.” Let’s glow into the year.
KEEP YOUR LOVE CLOSE
The french do it again. Inspired by the film The Things of Life by Claude Sautet, Figaret (a coveted french shirt company) subtly embroidered, “Je t’aime” on the inside placket for a reminder to yourself or the person across from you. We love considered details with all our hearts.
WEAR POETRY
We discovered Haricot Vert about a year ago, and we can’t get enough of all the personality in every piece. Inspired by all things scissors can cut, Haricot Vert is a jewelry dreamworld by Kelsey Armstrong. Each piece is handmade and unfolds a story for itself and the wearer.
THE BEST READS
Our reading shelf is already stacked for 2024, but here are three places to get started.
READ EVERY DAY
We started this tradition (or resolution) last year and want to continue it into 2024: start every day reading a page. “101 Essays That Will Make You Think” by Brianna Wiest isn’t new to bookstores, but it’s the latest on our shelf, and we can’t wait to dive into her exploration of ideas that have changed many people’s lives.
START A CHALLENGE
NYTimes originally published this back in 2019, but we find ourselves revisiting it every year. Tara Parker-Pope spent 20 years writing about health and learned the key to living well can be summed up in four words: Move. Nourish. Refresh. Connect. In this article, she takes you through short challenges you can complete every day to make meaningful changes to your life.
FILL YOUR MIND
We are readers. Big readers. So every year, when Time publishes their collection of must-read books, we scour the list to ensure we’ve read a number of them and fill our Goodreads with the ones we haven’t. This year, we were excited to see quite a few books we highlighted on this very list and MANY more we plan to in the coming months.
THE BEST ENTERTAINMENT
We’re on a mission to find the things that make us feel good more than ever–here are a few outlets we’re looking at to do so.
GET MOVING
Exercise is a must for us (most days), and pilates has been a big motivator to ensure this happens. Emi Frey is an NYC-based pilates instructor that this writer (hi! It’s Brittan, the copywriter) has been moving with since 2020. She’s refreshed her online library for the year, and we wanted to get you in on the fun.
FOLLOW THE GOOD
Sometimes social media can be overwhelming, but every now and then we find a page we’re excited to follow. “Dose of Society” is a recent follow that shares stories of love, heartbreak and just everyday life from the community around you. It’s a moment to relate to the stranger standing next to you!
START JOURNALING
Journaling has always been hard for us, but we love the idea of doing it. It seems cathartic, but sometimes we don’t know where to start. Much like the “5-Minute Journal”, the “Better Every Day Journal” is a daily guide to help you feel better. There are 365 prompts designed for self-love, reflection, and growth. Think: new daily ritual.
