Our modern take on a classic penny loafer. Handcrafted in cuoio brown spazzolato, the ELBA updates the timeless style with our signature notched welt and angled leather heel. We’ll live in these loafers with everything from oversized suits to cuffed denim and socks.
Our shoes are made from the highest quality leather which will last season after season. Leather is a natural material and will give with wear.
- 100% Italian leather in cuoio spazzolato. This tannery is rated Leather Working Group Registered. Leather Working Group is a tool to evaluate the environmental performance of leather goods manufacturers.
- 100% Calf leather lined
- Notched leather welt
- Leather sueded sole
- 0.75" leather-stacked flared heel
This material may feel snug when you first put them on. This is normal as they will need a little breaking in to make them yours. Before you know it, the leather will take the shape of your foot and become your everyday favorite. We suggest wearing them with socks around the house until they soften.
- The length of this style is running slightly long. If you are narrow or in between sizes, we recommend 1/2 sizing down.

This leather is a high shine, full-grain leather that achieves it's luster and depth of color after a great deal of brushing by hand and polishing wheels. It's a very durable leather and easy to maintain, but is still susceptible to marks as you begin to wear. To clean, wipe dirt or other spills off the leather with a damp cloth, then pat dry. Spazzolato requires only an occasional polish with a cloth or light leather conditioner. Please test the cleaner on a small portion of your shoe to ensure no discoloration before applying all over. We advise against using any cleaning products, as they will damage the leather. We recommend cleaning periodically or as needed to keep your FRĒDAs looking brand new.

The ELBA is hand-sewn in our San Salvador, El Salvador, family factory. Our Co-Founder's grandfather started manufacturing shoes 67 years ago, and our hand-sewn Moccasins are produced in a factory that her father started in the 1980s. This factory is one of the last hand-sewn moccasin factories in the world—a true testament to artisanal craftsmanship and passing down this skill from generation to generation.

I adore the Elba loafer. I purchased the brown croc last year and receive complements every time I wear them. I was drawn to this "cumin" color and they are so lovely. To my eye- the color leans olive. I am between a 6-6.5, but have both colors in a 6 and the fit is perfect. The heel is probably my favorite part about the Elba. I have my eye on the cherry croc next.

I had huge expectations when ordering these. All you hear about is zero break in necessary and how comfortable they are. They are comfortable once you get them on your feet. But if you have any wideness or a high instep then there might be a slight tightness getting them on. I contemplated returning for a half size bigger, but worry then they’d slip on my heel. They actually fit perfectly otherwise. I’ll just need to wear them around the house to break them in a bit before I’ll feel comfortable being out and about in them. If you plan on wearing socks I’d definitely go up half a size in my experience.

I love the look of loafers, but my feet do not love the feel of loafers. When I saw that FS loafers were handmade, I had to try them. Not only are they beautiful (in the soft and sumptuous brown suede!) but are SO comfortable. It is like they were literally MADE FOR ME! I am usually a size 9.5 and originally ordered that size, but exchanged for the 9s, which are perfect. Absolutely the best shoe purchase I've ever made.
