AUGUST 2023: THE BEST (CURATED BY US)
THE BEST THINGS FOR THE IN-BETWEEN
It’s official: fall is around the corner and we’re in the mood to ease from one favorite season to the next. Transitional closet essentials, comfort recipes and mood boards are on our curated list of the best things for the in-between.
THE BEST SHOPPING
We love fall fashion so much that our shopping list is a little longer this month. Here’s what we’re buying now to wear through the rest of the year.
A good blazer is essential to every closet and we often find ourselves conflicted with which print we want. Havre Studio makes it so we don’t have to choose. Founded between Copenhagen and Mexico City, we’re obsessed with how they repurpose vintage tailoring with cool contrast.
Hold onto summer vibes with statement jewelry. Vertigo is the brainchild of Taylor Sade–the woman behind the “hot girl necklace,” as proclaimed by the New York Times. Each handcrafted and one of a kind, her pieces look as if they were thoughtfully plucked from the sea.
Nothing says in-between like going from bed to brunch. We’ve long admired Frankie Collective for its collegiate feel, but are currently can’t get enough of their reworked boxer shorts and oxford shirts. We’re excited to pair them with western boots and everyday loafers.
The silk dress is the epitome of versatility. We recently discovered Maison Essentiele through their basic tanks but are looking towards their silk pieces as a new year-round addition to our closet. The lace option looks so cool layered over tailored pants.
THE BEST READS
Find us making mood boards and laughing our way through a love quartet with this month’s reads.
Street style fuels our closets. Simbarashe Cha is here to show us spring style isn’t impossible–so neither should in-between summer and fall dressing. The underlying sentiment of “breaking the rules” is everything to us at the moment.
We knew Caroline O'Donoghue was a genius podcaster with “Sentimental Garbage,” but here is hooking us through her writing too. Her latest fiction triumph, “The Rachel Incident,” is about a woman trying to juggle life and lots of lovers. We couldn’t put it down.
Nothing gets us more in the mood for a new season than making a mood board. MasterClass gives us tips and tricks to make it fun and beneficial as the coming season gets closer.
THE BEST ENTERTAINMENT
From accepting change to fresh cooking ideas, this is how we’re entertaining ourselves during the in-between.
We’re always looking to upgrade our cooking game. Camille Styles gives us the tools to curb fall comfort cravings even when it’s still hot out outside. The Crispy Roasted Butternut Squash And Quinoa With Currant Vinaigrette will be our lunch for the next month.
Change is hard on everyone (even seasonal shifts). “Doing It Right” with Pandora Sykes is one of our favorites but we somehow missed this episode! Her interview with psychotherapist Julia Samuel gave us insight into the effect change has on us and how to overcome it.
Not necessarily in the transition theme, but we are still reeling from “Barbie.” It gave us all the feels and made us proud to be not only a woman but a human being. The reviews don’t lie, it’s worth the hype and strongly encouraged as a mother-daughter activity.
