JULY 2023: THE BEST (CURATED BY US)
THE BEST THINGS FOR HIGH SUMMER
With rising temps and nonstop sunny days, we’re ready to make the most of all the fun this season has in store for us. From whimsy table settings to our Friday night at the movies, here is our curated list of the best things for high summer.
THE BEST SHOPPING
Fresh transitional clothing, conversation-starting glassware and summer skincare essentials are at the top of our shopping list this month.
We recently discovered Proche, a clothing brand telling their story through modern heirloom pieces. Using only upcycled and recycled materials, we love the versatility of their styles and can’t wait to find creative ways to transition them throughout the year.
We’re entertaining a lot this summer and are always on the lookout for new fun tablesettings. Copenhagen-based designer, Helle Mardahl crafts whimsical, one-of-a-kind glassware that spark conversation at every table.
We all want that beachy radiance without baking in the sun all day. Omorovicza’s gold shimmer oil is our latest skincare obsession for a soft complexion with a hint of shimmery glow. Based in Budapest, they tapped into the power of their hometown’s thermal waters to create a beautiful skincare collection.
THE BEST READS
Our summer reading list is filled with lighthearted lessons from Parisian women, a profile on Sarah Jessica Parker and our latest magazine subscription.
A friend recently gifted us “How To Be Parisian Wherever You Are” and we have been enarmored by every section. Not exactly a beach read per se, but definitely a fun way to unplug and learn about the art of a Parisian woman’s coveted je ne sais quoi from the point of view four accomplished French women.
We’re longtime fans of “Sex and the City” and loved listening to Rachel Syme’s most recent profile of the queen herself, Sarah Jessica Parker. So for all the Carrie enthusiasts out there, this one’s for you.
We’re constantly searching for fresh inspiration and often find it in magazines (yes, the hold-in-hand-delivered kind). Cabana Magazine is an annual issue dripping with striking photography, thoughtful prose and beautiful graphic treatments.
THE BEST ENTERTAINMENT
Get to the movies, have a dance party and feed all your best friends in one week with this month’s entertainment should-dos.
Movie theaters are often overlooked in the summertime but when it’s hot and humid, there is really nothing better than a Friday night at the movies. We recently saw “Past Lives” and were completely gripped with the story of this couple’s unrequited love and past. Nora’s style was also a highlight.
“Here Lies Love” is both a broadway musical and opportunity for you to star in one. From the minds of David Byrne and Fatboy Slim, you’ll dance the night away and enjoy a show simultaneously. Sounds like the fun night high summer ordered.
Dinner only turns into midnight conversation when the food at the table is simply irresistible. We turn to New York Times’ cooking section weekly for meal inspiration with the freshest ingredients and the summery dishes of our dreams.
THE BEST OF FRĒDA
We’re very excited to drop a newly curated selection of vintage styles with our friend and collaborator, Rayna from Born to Roam Vintage! Check back July 8 for the launch.
