THE BEST (CURATED BY US) JANUARY 2025

THE BEST WAYS TO START THE YEAR

We’re all about starting the year off with ease. It could be as simple as prioritizing better sleep or taking the time to make a list of all the things that made you feel good in 2024 to continue them into 2025–whatever it is, here’s our curated list of the best ways to start the year off on the right foot.

THE BEST SHOPPING

Sleep solutions. Guided journaling (and doodling!). Local finds. See what’s on our shopping list.

SUPPORT LOCAL

We love supporting local businesses–and this year is no exception. Our friends, Lauren and Irayna, are our ultimate inspiration when shopping local and vintage. Their store, Trove, in Sonoma, is a vintage enthusiast’s haven. It’s stocked to the brim with an array of local female-owned-and-operated brands. The shop is 90 percent vintage clothing but they also carry a handful of contemporary brands, vintage jewelry, custom hats, vinyl records, and FRĒDAs! We also did a special partnership with them this month–so be on the lookout for that very soon.

SLEEP BETTER

We know that the secret to a good day is good sleep. We recently discovered This Works’ pillow spray and are obsessed. It’s formulated with natural ingredients and a functional fragrance to help you fall asleep faster, sleep deeper and wake up feeling refreshed. Sometimes it’s the simple things that make the biggest impact.

START JOURNALING

One of our favorite partnerships from last year was this journal with Laura L. Rubin. This journal is comprised of 144 blank pages (72 lined to write, 72 unlined to draw) for you to tap into your creative brilliance. It features three pages of writing/drawing prompts exclusively created for FRĒDA that are individual stickers so you can pick and choose when you want to explore them. Get creative and start journaling this year with us!

THE BEST READS

We’re reading this year to feel good. Whether it’s reframing resolutions or creating healthier habits, here’s what’s on our bookshelf.

RESOLVE TO FEEL GOOD

Don’t worry, we fall victim to the allure of New Year’s resolutions too. In this NYTimes article by Lori Leibovich, she explores how to turn resolutions on their head and make them more achievable. By turning to a few experts, she uncovers that maybe it’s about creating resolutions that create healthy habits and make you simply feel good. Which you know better than anyone, that’s what we’re all about.

CREATE HEALTHY HABITS (WITH EASE)

Now and then we’re handed a self-help book that we carry around long enough until we finally read it. And boom, we’re instantly inspired. “Better Than Before,” by Gretchen Rubin was just that. With her signature mix of rigorous research, easy humor, and personal experimentation, Gretchen shows readers how to find what works for them, even if they’ve failed before. Here’s to creating healthier habits.

MAKE YOUR INBOX READABLE

Laura L. Rubin gets two shoutouts in this list because we think she’s just the best. We recently subscribed to her substack, “Since You Asked,” and spent every minute of free time we had this holiday reading every last post. We love the realness she brings to a larger conversation of being a woman who’s no longer young but not old–a demi-elder in her words. We hope you find all the inspiration we did!

THE BEST ENTERTAINMENT

The power of manifestation. Chinese medicine. Feel-good movies. See how we’re starting our year of entertainment.

MANIFEST YOUR POWER

Welcome to another Sarah Wright Olsen and Teresa Palmer fangirl moment. You already know we tune into every Mother Daze podcast, but this week’s episode with Lacy Phillips struck a chord with us as we enter 2025. Lacy truly blew our minds with her witchiness and wisdom. She walks you through unlocking, relearning and engaging in your own self-work to become your most magnetic self. TUNE IN, IT’S MAJOR.

FOLLOW WELLNESS

We recently followed Dr. Natazia Stolberg on Instagram and we are now fully tuned into Chinese medicine for everything from wearing red to family dynamics. Specializing in women’s health, we love her easy approach to health with everyday tips and tricks that will leave you feeling good.

WATCH GOOD FEELS

Nothing new here (sorry) but sometimes returning to the classics is just what we need. “School of Rock” was on over TV the other day, and we couldn’t peel our eyes off the screen. We’d forgotten the simple humor and innocence of this classic and are thinking of only watching all our favorites this month. Give it another watch, we can promise you’ll be laughing and smiling the whole way through.
