THE BEST OF SUMMER MAGIC
We’re something of summer enthusiasts. Only because there is SO much to love. Long days filled with heat, sun, refreshing treats and sips, mood-boosting style–and more. There’s also this nostalgic, carefree energy we find undoubtedly contagious. So, with that in mind, here’s our curated list of the best of summer magic.
THE BEST SHOPPING
The summer closet is the most fun closet, so on our shopping lineup is beads, embroidery, sunnies and mood-boosting beads.
Simple shapes, specialty details–that’s got our name all over it. We recently discovered the Australian designer, Anna Horton’s collection Merrow Anam, and we’re obsessed. We want every embroidery, crochet, and print-covered piece to round out our summer closet. Special shoutout to the Ivy Skirt, aka the floral crochet style of our dreams.
Because beads everything feel like magic. We partnered with Ashley at Don’t Let Disco for our ballet charms but wanted to give all her pieces a special highlight because they are equal parts playful and beautiful. Each style is unique and gives us all the carefree summer vibes.
Sun’s out, SARDINES on. Formerly called Wolfspout (who we collaborated with last summer), our friends Danielle and Lauren at SARDINE have an acquired taste for sunglasses that reads bold but beautiful, salty but delightful, and iconic yet still perfect for everyday. They’re personality pairs that will spark conversation no matter where you are.
THE BEST READS
Between your beach read list, vacation-inspiration coffee table book and a substack of good eats, you’ll be plenty busy reading this season.
Maybe it's the colorful produce or maybe it’s just the ease of the day–whatever it is, summer gets us in the cooking mood. “The Late Plate” by Rosie Kellet is a collection of recipes (amongst other things) made for a big table of friends and family. She also has a cookbook, but we’ve loved her SubStack!
Because we couldn’t choose just one, here’s a list of 20 books for you to enjoy this summer. You’ll see a few of the big authors who have perfected the art of the beach read (like Emily Henry), as well as some newcomers. They should all be light and filled with escapism to take you to sandy dunes if you’re reading them at home.
We noticed that we often only include long reads in this list, which seems silly since we are such a visually-led brand. So, we’ve included a picture book (better known as a coffee table book) from Assouline that gives every excuse to book your flight to Italy.
THE BEST ENTERTAINMENT
Refreshing drinks, happy puzzles, and all the nostalgic summer hits in one playlist–here are all the best ways to entertain yourself this month.
Crafts, games, exercise, reading–we’re doing anything but scrolling (social media) at the moment. Which is where puzzles came in. It had been years since we’d gotten into puzzles until we picked up this nostalgic one at a boutique and were hooked. It’s the perfect rainy day activity or even something to do with a movie in the background. Check them out, they have so many fun options to choose from!
On a recent long weekend trip to a very gloomy town on England’s southeast coast, this writer (hi! It’s Brittan, the copywriter) discovered the simple brilliance of a vermouth soda. One sip transports you to Spain’s Basque Country, where surfers don’t finish their day on the waves without a vermouth. And all you need is a sweet red vermouth, your favorite soda water and an orange slice. ENJOY FRIENDS.
We searched high and low for the perfect playlist and felt like this one was a good mix of all the hits from summer's past. Pop, dance, rock, and everything in between–there’s something for everyone and will be sure to take you back.
